TORRINGTON – Police say a man who held them at bay for 14 hours Friday had a small arsenal in his home. 41 long guns and 15 handguns were taken out of the house, according to police.

Timothy Ventry, 60, appeared in court Monday for charges related to the Friday standoff which closed roads in the area for over 13 hours.

Police responded to shots fired near 210 Torringford Street shortly after noon Friday. Ventry had barricaded himself in the home.

The stand-off ended peacefully around 2 a.m. when Ventry came out and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Later Saturday, Ventry was released from New Britain Hospital and was taken into custody by Torrington Police.

He was charged with criminal attempt to commit assault, criminal attempt to commit assault with a firearm, reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm, threatening and breach of peace.

Ventry appeared in court Monday and was released on bond.
