Hartford machete attack over single cigarette: Police

HARTFORD – One person was hospitalized after a machete attack in Hartford.

Police said it happened around noon Sunday at the NBA Super Deli on New Britain Avenue.

The victim claimed he went into the store to buy a single cigarette, or “loosey” and got into an argument when the clerk refused.

The exchange continued outside the store and turned into a fight where the clerk allegedly came at the customer with a machete.

The victim claimed he was also jumped by four other people during the fight. He was taken to Hartford Hospital but is expected to be OK.

One person was arrested in connection with this incident.

Victor Parry, 31, of Hartford, was charged with assault and breach of peace.
