HARTFORD - Each year, women spend an exorbitant amount of money on beauty products to make ourselves feel fresher, younger, more perfect. But, often, we get these creams and concealers home, where they sit in the cupboard — unused — because we don't really know how to apply them.

"We are actually Hartford's first official makeup studio but, in essence, we're a little bit deeper than that," says Andrea Cortez, founder of Tainted Inc., a beauty collective and creative studio that opened in Hartford in January.
Rather than sell makeup, she teaches the "art" of it, showing women — especially moms — how to find their authentic selves, while feeling confident and secure.
