Police: Bridgeport man shot several times while on porch

BRIDGEPORT — Police said a Bridgeport man was hospitalized after he was shot multiple times on his porch, just before 11 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Stratford and Newfield Avenues.

Police said Abdul Nelson, 39, received gunshot wounds to his legs and hand and told police he was sitting on his front porch when he heard gunshots. He said he is not sure where they came from.

Two witnesses near the scene told police they heard three or four shots and saw a vehicle speeding away.

He was taken to Bridgeport Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The shooting remains under investigation.

Police are asking the public for assistance in finding the suspects and asking that if anyone has information regarding this incident, they call Detective John Tenn at (203) 581-5243.
