MIDDLETOWN–The boyfriend of a missing woman was in court on Thursday after police say he violated a restraining order.

Nina Coe went missing on or around July 15.

According to court paperwork, Gregory Erhardt, 55, of Middletown, and Coe had been dating in the months before her disappearance.

She filed a restraining order against him on June 16, about a month before she disappeared. In the restraining order application, Coe called Erhardt hurtful, physical, and said he told her to lock the door so no one kills her.

Police say he contacted her with more than 40 text messages between July 9 and July 16, around the time she disappeared.

Erhardt was arrested on July 30 and charged with violating a restraining order. Police say he violated the restraining order on or about July 15, the same day Coe was last heard from.

He appeared in court on Thursday, but did not enter a plea. He is being held on a $250,000 bond.

While he was arrested for violating the restraining order, police have stopped short of calling him a person of interest in Coe’s disappearance because there is no evidence that foul play was involved.

Erhardt is due back in court on September 10, and in the meantime, the investigation into her disappearance continues.

If anyone has information on where Nina Coe might be, you’re asked to call Middletown Police.
