SHELTON — State police have identified the victim of a car crash in Shelton earlier this week as a 6-year-old Ansonia girl.

Police say Nyah Marcano died when the vehicle she was in rolled over on Route 8 north on Tuesday afternoon. Several other people were hospitalized.

Police say several vehicles slowed due to traffic and the SUV in which Nyah was a passenger struck another vehicle from behind, “subsequently overturning down the embankment of the center median.”

The girl was ejected from the SUV and died of her injuries.

The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.

Over the weekend, a 4-year-old girl was killed in a crash in New Haven.
