Shelton hit and run

SHELTON – Police have released a surveillance photo and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the owner or operator of a vehicle that was believed to be present at the time of a hit-and-run accident last week.

Police said that around 10 p.m. on Friday, August 14, they received multiple 911 calls about a car that hit a bicyclist at the intersection of Howe Avenue and Bridge Street.

The bicyclist, a 49-year-old Milford resident, was still receiving treatment Friday at the hospital for injuries sustained in the accident.

Witnesses said the bicyclist was struck by a black vehicle traveling south on Howe Avenue and the car drove away over the Derby-Shelton Bridge.

Any witnesses or persons with additional information may call the Shelton Police Department Traffic Division at (203) 924-1544.
