WATERTOWN — State police are investigating after a fatal wrong-way crash on Route 8 in Watertown.
It happened just before 10 p.m. Saturday in the area of exit 37.
Police say they received several 9-1-1 calls reporting a wrong way driver traveling north in the southbound lane.
Troopers say the driver identified as John Fretts struck a vehicle traveling south head-on.
He was transported to Waterbury hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle, Daniel Dziadik, was pronounced dead on the scene.
