HARTFORD — Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy says he met earlier this month with General Electric Co. officials to offer some incentives to keep the company from moving out of state.

While offering no details, the Democrat confirmed Monday that he and members of his administration “made a presentation” to GE and “indicated in general and in some cases specific terms” of what the state could offer to discourage the multinational conglomerate from moving its headquarters elsewhere.

There have been various news reports in recent weeks about GE considering locations in different states. GE’s headquarters is currently located in Fairfield, employing about 800 people.

Malloy said his administration would like GE to remain in the state, but acknowledged “it’s a competitive situation, as it is with many of our large employers.”
