NEW BRITAIN -- Police are searching for a suspect after a young girl was sexually assaulted in the middle of the night.

On Sunday, August 16, a young girl was taken from her bedroom by a male in the early morning hours. Police say she was taken out of her bedroom window, while her two siblings slept in the room.

The suspect is said to have inappropriately touched her, then returned her to her room.

The incident occurred in New Britain's Broad Street neighborhood.

The victim described the suspect as between 20 and 50 years old, light skinned with a thin dark-colored beard, dark eyes and short hair. She also said he had an accent, and was wearing a dark-colored hat with blue logo similar to lightening bolt.

"It's very disturbing for us at the police department, but also to our victim, the family as well as the folks who live in that neighborhood. It's definitely a priority for us to identify and arrest the suspect. That`s why we`re asking for the public`s help at this time," said Captain Thomas Steck of the New Britain Police Dept.
