STORRS — An investigation was conducted at UConn after a report of a hazing incident last year involving the women’s hockey team.

The university issued a statement Thursday saying that in the spring of 2015, the school got a complaint about hazing that occurred in early fall 2014 at “Rookie Night,” an unsanctioned event.

The hazing included excessive drinking and participation in potentially embarrassing activities.

The university said in its statement that it found no evidence of any other hazing by upperclassmen to intimidate others or force team members to drink. The statement also said the investigation revealed that the coaches were not involved and had no knowledge of the incident before it occurred.

According to the Associated Press, Shannon Godin left the team after her freshman season. She filed a lawsuit that also alleges that coach Christopher Mackenzie made inappropriate comments to players about his underwear.
