INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -– The Indianapolis Zoo lifted their lock down after a scary hour Sunday morning.

Visitors at the Indianapolis Zoo were instructed to seek shelter around 9:30 a.m. after they were told a cheetah escaped its holding area, our affiliate WXIN reported.

The cheetah was found and tranquilized. She then walked into the proper holding area on her own.

According to zoo officials, the cheetah got out of its first enclosure and went into the secondary enclosure. They say she never made it onto general zoo grounds, and the public was never in danger.

The cheetah exhibit will remain closed to the general public while zoo officials investigate and confirm it’s secured.
