Rock Cats finish final season with a loss in Maine

PORTLAND–The Rock Cats have lost at the bottom of the ninth, with no innings left.

The New Britain baseball team finished its final season with a loss versus the Portland, Maine Sea Dogs, 4-10.

The teams each scored one in the first inning, and New Britain took an early lead with a run in the second. But then Portland rebounded, scoring five runs in the third inning, three in the fourth, and another in the fifth. New Britain scored the last two runs of the game in the top of the eighth, and after failing to hit a run in the top of the ninth the game–and an era–ended.

The general manager of the Rock Cats and Yard Goats, Tim Restall, attended the final hoorah, and posted a photo of the scoreboard thanking fans for 33 great seasons in New Britain:
