HARTFORD — The city of Hartford has settled a lawsuit filed by a man who says he was beaten and arrested by police for no reason while walking his dog, which was brought to the pound and euthanized.

The settlement of Lamonte Brown’s federal lawsuit was reached in mid-August. Terms weren’t disclosed.

Brown says he was walking his dog in November 2012 when two officers responding to a noise complaint he knew nothing about shot him with stun guns and assaulted him. He was detained on $10,000 bail for four days on charges that were later dismissed.

Brown says his dog was brought to the pound because of his arrest and was put down because he couldn’t afford to get it out.

A city attorney didn’t immediately return a message Tuesday.
