NEW LONDON–A fugitive was captured and arrested in New London on Tuesday.
Around 1:31 p.m. New London Police, with the help of the U.S. Marshals, arrested Ricardo Valentin-Santos, 24.
There was a warrant out for his arrest for a homicide in Springfield, Massachusetts.
The U.S. Marshals spotted the suspect, and the area was surrounded. Valentin-Santos was caught after a brief foot chase in a backyard.
Both the Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School and Jennings School went into lockdown for 20 minutes while Valentin-Santos was arrested.
He was charged by New London police with being a fugitive from justice.
