NEW LONDON–Animal Control is asking for the public’s help to heal an injured kitty.

Chloe, a 4-month-old cat, was the victim of abuse by neighborhood children, and she suffered a serious break in her left front leg.

Healing Chloe will cost some money, and the department is asking for donations so that she can get the best care.

There are four options, according to Animal Control:

  • Euthanize her, which is “not something I really want to do to a friendly and sweet 4-month-old girl,” an Animal Control officer wrote on the department’s Facebook page.
  • Splint her injury, which is what has been done so far. However, because her splint needs to be changed weekly, and she’ll need x-rays, this option will become expensive.
  • Amputate the leg, which, again, is “not really what we want to do,” but it’s an option. This too is expensive.
  • The fourth, and most expensive option, is for an orthopedic veterinarian to do surgery on the leg.

The Facebook posts says the department’s medical budget will only cover the euthanization option, so donations would be needed to help save Chloe. The VCA-New London Animal Hospital is offering a huge discount to the department to help Chloe, but donations are needed to make up the extra $1,000+.

If you’d like to donate, please send a check to the hospital, which is located at 122 Cross Rd. in Waterford. Write “Chloe’s Fund-New London ACO” on the memo line.

The hospital’s phone number is 860-442-0611 if you have any questions.
