NEW HAVEN — State police were called to the Department of Children and Families Thursday morning after a woman threatened to “blow the building up.”

Troopers from Troop I- Bethany responded to the DCF office on Longwharf Drive at 11:33 a.m. after a woman made a threat against the employees there. Police say, an angry parent left the building and threatened to “blow the building up” because she was unhappy with a decision that had been made.

Nadine Diaz, 27, was arrested at her home on Level Street a short time later. She was taken into custody and the children were turned over to the Department of Children and Families for their safety, according to police.

Diaz was charged with threatening in the first degree and breach of peace in the second degree. She was released on $7,500 bond and is due in New Haven Superior Court last this month.
