EAST HAVEN — If you feel you were wrongly cheated out of thousands of dollars by your Superstorm Sandy claim now is the time to make that known.

Tuesday, September 15, is the deadline for all Sandy claims reviews.

More than 12,500 policyholders have entered the review process.

FEMA says it’s a simple process.

The first step is to either apply online or by calling FEMA at 866-337-4264. You have until 9 p.m. to make that phone call.

Make sure you have your National Flood Insurance Policy Information that you had at the time of your loss with you, and your insurance company name.

Once you fill out the application you can either email it to FEMA at sandyclaimsreview@fema.dhs.gov or fax it over to 202-646-7970.

Once you finish the application process a representative will let you know if you’ve qualified for a review and if so you will be contacted by an adjuster.

According to FEMA the damage caused by Superstorm Sandy was one of the worst, 129,235 people received financial assistance, costing FEMA nearly $8 billion.
