WOODBRIDGE — Police are investigating an accident that left an Ansonia woman dead on Tuesday afternoon.

Nicole Osborne, 33, was standing in the road when she was struck and killed by an oncoming driver. An 84-year-old man was driving westbound on Route 313 when he hit Osborne and a stopped vehicle. She suffered severe injuries and died shortly after arriving at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Osborne had stopped and exited her vehicle after being involved in a separate minor collision with another driver. The unidentified vehicle was making a left hand turn into a private driveway when the initial accident occurred.

The accident remains under investigation and it is unclear if authorities will file any charges.
