Police identify mother and son killed in crash in Terryville

Plymouth crashTERRYVILLE-- Police are investigating a serious crash that killed a mother and child and injured another child.

Melissa Odelius, 29, of the Terryville section of town was driving her car when it crashed into a porch on South Main Street. Her two sons, George, 5, and Thomas, 3, were also involved in the crash.

"The 3-year-old was unconscious at first, but came to," Christine Alfieri, who helped after the crash, said.  "He did not realize he was in an accident, he was calling for his mommy."plymouth crash today

George was taken to Hartford Hospital by LifeStar helicopter where he later died. Thomas was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury and then transferred to CCMC where he is listed in serious, but stable condition.

There is still no word on what caused the crash. Both Plymouth Police and State Police are investigating the accident.
