WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The first day of fall is here and that means it's officially fair season!

Up at The Big E, people are enjoying the normal fanfare, such as carnival rides, fried food and barbecue, but Wednesday was a special day for those in the Nutmeg State, because it was Connecticut Day.

That means it was a party in front of the Connecticut State House replica, and all things Connecticut inside.

Cigars made in Enfield by Battleground Cigars? We have them.

Lego? It's headquartered here.

How about good old-fashioned root beer? Lee Blanchette with Papa’s Connecticut Mountain Brew has that covered.

"We're from Thompson, Connecticut,” said Blanchette, "Connecticut is the busiest weekday out of the whole entire 17 days, very popular here."

Make sure to catch a slice of delicious pizza from Randy’s Wooster Street Pizza Shop.

Newtown's Carol and Hugh Fullman have been coming for a while now.

"Maybe the 20th time?" said Carol, "The blueberry pie with ice cream is still on our agenda!”

You can't experience Connecticut Day at the Big E without trying the famous chocolate-covered bacon from Rosie's Chocolates!

The Big E is open until 10 p.m., although some exhibits close at 9 p.m., and the festivities continue until October 4.
