PROSPECT – A state police detective in an unmarked vehicle helped a stabbing victim track down a suspect.

On Wednesday just before 5 p.m., the detective was driving on Waterbury Road in Prospect when a man stepped into the roadway in front of his vehicle.

The detective stopped and the man said he had been stabbed and that the suspect was in the area. He had multiple stab wounds and was taken to the hospital for further evaluation of non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect was found in the area of 14 Waterbury Road by state police and Prospect police. He failed to stop for the officers and ran away. A brief chase ensued before he was taken into custody.

The suspect, John Satkunas, 21, of Waterbury Road in Prospect, was charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, interfering with an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia

He was held on $1,000,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Thursday.
