TORRINGTON — Two Torrington residents are facing charges for allegedly putting three children in the trunk of a car for a drive.

Police say 34-year-old John David Harvey and 19-year-old Adrianna Nordin, both of Torrington, were stopped at a convenience store earlier this month when customers called police after seeing three children climb into the trunk, which was then shut behind them. Two children were 10 and one was 8. They were unharmed.

The Republican American  reports with five people already in the vehicle for a roughly 20-mile drive to Waterbury, there was no room in the car for the children. Harvey’s lawyer says his client made a “bad decision.”

The defendants are charged with risk of injury and breach of peace. Both are free on $1,000 bond.
