FAIRFIELD – Fairfielders for the first time will see the town turn pink in October to support the Norma Pfriem Breast Center as it marks its 15th anniversary of helping women in the community fight breast cancer, and Fairfield police are participating in the cause.
On Monday, the chief’s pink cruiser was unveiled at Fairfield Police headquarters as part of the campaign.
The Pink Pledge is a month-long, community-wide campaign, and will raise funds for the center’s life-saving programs for women in need while promoting breast cancer awareness and early detection
“The Fairfield community has come together to lead the Pink Pledge in amazing ways by literally turning the whole town pink,” said Dr. Donna Twist, breast center executive director, in a statement. “The purpose of the Pink Pledge campaign is to raise funds that will allow Norma Pfriem Breast Center to continue providing medical excellence, compassionate care and life-saving programs to all women regardless of their ability to pay.”
There will be a Pink Pledge kickoff on Thursday, Oct. 1 at the Sherman Green Gazebo on Post Road in Fairfield.
Throughout October, Fairfield businesses have pledged to support Norma Pfriem Breast Center and will offer special promotions and events to benefit the center. Businesses will also participate in a window-decorating contest. After the short program at the Sherman Green, the town is invited to continue the celebration at various downtown restaurants offering pink drink specials that evening.
