BRIDGEPORT — A man convicted of trying to shoot Bridgeport police officers has lost an alleged brutality lawsuit against them.
A federal court jury in Bridgeport last week rejected brutality claims by 46-year-old Lorenzo Osborne. Court records indicate the jury rejected allegations against two officers, a judge dismissed claims against another officer and Osborne’s lawyer withdrew allegations against three other officers.
A city attorney told the Connecticut Post that the officers risked their lives trying to disarm Osborne, who tried to shoot police in 2009.
Police say Osborne fought with officers and cocked a loaded .32-caliber revolver, which fell to the ground during the struggle and discharged. No one was injured, but authorities say three officers narrowly avoided being shot.
Osborne is serving 10 years in prison for attempted assault.
