HARTFORD–Police are searching for a car that they believe was involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash.
At 2:32 a.m. on Sunday police responded to the area of 445 Garden St. on reports that a car had hit a pedestrian. They found a woman unresponsive in the roadway on the southbound side, and she had visible injuries to her head and lower limbs.
The woman was taken to St. Francis Hospital and listed in critical condition, but she died on Tuesday morning at 1:23 a.m. from her injuries.
The victim was identified as Felicita Ayala, 60. She lived on the street she was hit on.
A witness said the victim was crossing the road when she was hit by a car that fled north on Garden Street.
Police are searching for a possibly white or tan SUV in connection to the incident.
