HARTFORD -- The mother of child who died after a bathtub accident in July has been charged in the baby's death.

Tamara Lee Santana, 27, was charged with Manslaughter, Risk of Injury to a Child and Reckless Endangerment. She is being held on $1 million bond.

Santana is already jailed on unrelated charges.

Police found the parents had already left the address to deliver the one-year-old to the hospital.

On the way to the hospital, the parents encountered paramedics so the child was taken to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center by ambulance.

The baby, Antonio Armando Delgado, Jr., the son of Antonio Armando Delgado, Sr, 33, and Santana, both of Hartford, was listed in critical condition due to lack of oxygen. He was removed from life support on July 18 at 11 a.m.

Dep. Chief Brian Foley said the arrest by Hartford police took some time because investigators were trying to find evidence linked to the case on social media.

"Allegedly she's saying that she's distracted, the mother was distracted from her children in the bathtub while she was on social media," Foley said. She told police she was on Facebook, but records from Facebook and her cell phone show no activity at the time the baby drowned. No other explanation was given as to what she may have been doing.
