WATERBURY — A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries after colliding with a car early Thursday morning.

George Walters, 26, was ejected after striking the passenger side of a car near the intersection at Sylvan Avenue and Pearl Lake Road. The driver fled the scene immediately.

Walters suffered head and facial injuries, as well as a broken arm and leg. He was rushed to St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury before being transferred. He is currently listed in critical condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Waterbury police retrieved evidence at the scene and identified the vehicle as a gray early 2000s hatchback, possibly a Subaru or a Saab. Investigators say the passenger side of the vehicle was also damaged in the impact.

Anyone with information on the vehicle’s whereabouts is asked to call the Waterbury Police Criminal Investigations Bureau at (203) 574-6941.
