Repairs to Newfield Ave. in Hartford expected to last through Friday after water main break

HARTFORD – Repairs to the road after a major water main break are expected to last throughout the day on Friday.

The water main break occurred Thursday afternoon on Newfield Avenue, near the intersection with New Britain Avenue, in Hartford.

The repairs to the main were completed around 3:15 a.m. Water was restored to the homes around 5:30 a.m. Newfield Avenue will remain closed and one lane west bound on New Britain Ave will remain shut down for the restoration. Repairs to the road is expected to take most of the day.

The location is one block from the West Hartford town line.

Metropolitan District Commission representatives said a 12-inch break occurred in a main that was installed in 1907. Seven houses and seven businesses were impacted by the shutdown.
