NEW LONDON – The New London Fire Department responded to a structure fire aaround 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Also responding were Norwich Fire, Waterford Fire, Mohegan Fire, the US Naval Submarine base, Groton ambulance service  and Providence, RI, canteen.

Around 35 firefighters helped in all.

The 2.5 story building was occupied at the time, but everyone was able to get out safely and there were no injuries to occupants or firefighters.

As of 9 p.m. the fire was under control

The house is uninhabitable.
