HARTFORD — Police and several Hartford agencies are investigating allegations that the city was overbilled by Premier Sports Management Group, a subsidiary of the organization that had planned to redevelop Dillon Stadium for professional soccer.

Thomas Deller, director of the city’s development services department that signed off on payments, said he had not determined the overbilling amount, but said it appeared to be a “large number.”

The Hartford Courant reports the city has paid Premier Sports more than $1.8 million in the last year.

Premier Sports Management Group did not immediately return a call Saturday seeking comment.

Councilman Kenneth Kennedy says he’ll withdraw a resolution for a 49-year lease with Premier Sports’ parent company, Black Diamond Consulting Group.

Soccer club Hartford City FC was to begin playing in April 2017.
