SOUTHBURY — Police are investigating a fatal accident on I-84 at Exit 16 that happened Wednesday evening.
Police said a car changed lanes to the right, and then went off the road and struck a tree. At the same time a tractor trailer moved to the left, went off the road into the center median and flipped over losing its load.
The accident happened around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The driver of the car, Kristen Ritter, 38 of Morris Plains, NJ, was taken to Waterbury Hospital with serious injuries and later died.
The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries and was transported to Danbury Hospital for evaluation.
