UConn makes top 25 in preseason men’s basketball poll

STORRS–The Huskies are looking to make a comeback in a big way.

After a disappointing season last year, in which the UConn men’s basketball team didn’t make the NCAA Tournament, the school was ranked in the top 25 on USA Today’s pre-season coach’s poll.

UConn placed 24th, tied with Purdue. Last season, the school’s record was 20-15.

While Kevin Ollie doesn’t sit on the USA Today Sports Board of Coaches, so he was not one of the 32 head coaches to vote. Notably, University of Hartford’s head coach, John Gallagher, is one of the voters.

Kentucky and the University of North Carolina tied for first place in the poll, followed by the University of Maryland in third, last year’s tournament winner Duke in third, and the University of Kansas to round out the top 5.
