FARMINGTON  —  Police are searching for an unknown suspect who robbed a Webster Bank branch on Saturday.

Farmington Police responded to the High Street location just before 10am after being alerted to a man handing a teller a note indicating his intention to steal from the bank. The suspect reportedly gestured towards his waistband to imply that he had a weapon, although none was displayed to staff.

The bank employee turned over an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect who then fled the area on foot and proceeded southbound.

Investigators established a perimeter and K-9 officers were able to track the individual as far south as 11 High Street. Police believe the suspect entered a waiting vehicle in this area to aid his escape.

The suspect is described as a heavy set black male, approximately 6 feet tall wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and maroon Yankees cap.
