Fire at Hartford scrapyard sends smoke over city

HARTFORD – A fire at a scrapyard in Hartford’s north meadows sent smoke over the city.

The fire is at City Auto Parts, 28-30 Fish Fry St. started around 10 a.m. According to officials, workers at the facility had been moving a pile of material in a corner of the scrap yard when a fire broke out. The fire expanded to an area of roughly 30′ x 30′ and was extinguished by firefighters within 30 minutes. There were no injuries.

The fire did not extend to any buildings of scrap vehicles. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the fire marshal.

City Auto Parts is listed at that address which is next to the Hartford Correctional facility off of Weston St.

Fir officials said there were no injuries.
