Sometimes the expected is better than a surprise. At least when it comes to candy.
Influenster.com, a product review website, polled 40,000 people to determine America’s favorite Halloween candy, state-by-state.
Overall, the most highly-voted candy was Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups–which also happens to be Connecticut’s favorite sweet!–while the overall favorite candy for the most number of states was candy corn (Oregon, Wyoming, Tennessee, Texas and South Carolina).
So the overall takeaway is if you’re heading to the store to buy candy to hand out on Halloween night, your safest bet is to buy a mega-sized bag of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, or at least the miniature ones.
Only 26 states picked candies with a chocolate base, while the others favored the more pure forms of sugar.
Unsurprisingly, no states picked non-candy treats as their favorite trick-or-treating surprise.
“Halloween is every American’s favorite fall holiday,” Aydin Acar, cofounder and CEO of Influenster, told Yahoo Parenting.
