HARTFORD–Police and fire officials are investigating two overnight fires.
The first fire started just after midnight at 153-155 Oakland Terrace in the city’s North End neighborhood. The residence is three stories, and fire was already breaching the roof when firefighters arrived.
It took almost an hour and a half for the 45 firefighters on scene to get the fire under control.
Everyone got out safely, and no residents were injured. One firefighter was taken to the hospital and treated for a minor cut.
Ten adults and one child were displaced by the fire, and the American Red Cross is helping them out.
The second fire occurred about 30 minutes after the other one was brought under control. At 1:53 p.m. firefighters responded to a three-story home located at 79-81 Oxford St.
Everyone got out safely, and no one was hurt in the fire. Three adults were displaced.
The blaze was brought under control around 4 p.m., with the assistance of the West Hartford Fire Department.
Both fires were second-alarms due to the lack of resources to fight two big fires at the same time. Mutual aid was called in from East Hartford, West Hartford, UConn and Manchester to help put the fires out and to cover the stations while the Hartford firefighters were out fighting the fires.
The cause of both fires remains under investigation.
