NEW BRITAIN — A former state correctional officer who pleaded guilty to four sexual assault charges was sentenced Monday.

Kelvin Grisales, 31, agreed to a plea bargain in May, and on Monday was sentenced to 20 years in prison, followed by 20 years of parole, according to the Hartford Courant. Grisales must also register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Grisales was charged last year with sexually assaulting a woman in Hartford. Authorities say he was linked to another assault in Hartford and two more in New Britain through DNA testing. Police eventually charged Grisales with more than 20 crimes including sexual assault and kidnapping.

Grisales was a guard at the Hartford Correctional Center. He was placed on administrative leave after he was first arrested and was later fired.
