NEW HAVEN -- At the new Jordan's Furniture at the old New Haven Register building in New Haven, shoppers can test a new sofa and ride a zip line over a lighted water show.

The huge building with a printing press in the back will now be a new Jordan's Furniture.

“We like to take things to a new level," said Jordan's CEO Eliot Tatelman. "That’s what makes it fun.”

When he bought the Register’s former home to open his sixth Jordan’s Furniture store, even he had no idea what to do with the 65- foot-tall press area.

“That’s how it started," he said. "The building had this, so we said ‘what can we do with this?'"

A a 60-foot-high adventure ropes course with 4 200-foot zip lines, over a dancing water show is just one example of the kind of concepts that Jordan's has done in their other stores. Concepts that offer family entertainment while selling furniture.

Mayor Toni Harp was sold on Jordan's selling something else for the city – an economic bump.

”We’re probably going to have 250 jobs in this building," said Tatelman. " Maybe more.”

There’s still lots to be done to get ready for the grand opening next month, like, figure out how much it will cost for you to get up into the course. They’ll have that all figured out by the time Jordan's opens up on December 11.
