Man arrested for DUI in Wallingford had guns, drugs, handcuffs, camera: Police
WALLINGFORD — A Wallingford man who was arrested for driving under the influence, firearms violations and other charges Thursday afternoon, also had guns, knives and police patches in his possession.
Police said they pulled over a GMC Pickup for a seat belt violation. They believed the driver, Mark Depaola Jr., 29 of Wallingford, was operating under the influence of drugs and was armed. After searching the vehicle, police found three fully loaded firearms, three unregistered loaded high capacity ammunition magazines, multiple knives, and 1.5 grams of powdered cocaine and methadone. Police also found handcuffs, a video camera and a Yale Police patch.
Depaola was charged with operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol, carrying of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, interfering with an officer, seat belt violation and three counts of illegal possession of large capacity magazines.
He posted a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on November 13.
