Mets have a chance at redemption on home turf in game 3 of World Series

NEW YORK–It’s been nearly 30 years since the New York Mets claimed victory in the World Series.

In 1986 the Mets faced the Boston Red Sox, and it was definitely a slow start: in game 1, the Mets lost 0-1, while in game 2 the team lost again 3-9.

Hope may have been lost, but it wasn’t necessary: by game 7, the Mets were able to claim victory the team’s second national title.

Since 1986 the Mets have appeared in just one World Series, in 2000 versus the New York Yankees for an historic Subway Series.

The first World Series the Mets won was in 1969 against the Baltimore Orioles.

The Mets will face off against the Kansas City Royals for game 3 of the 2015 World Series on Friday night. It’s the team’s first home game since the series began, giving the team a chance for redemption after losing games 1 and 2.

Tune in at 7:30 p.m. on FOX 61 for full coverage of the game, including Billy Joel’s rendition of the national anthem.
