Fairfield police: Costumed ‘cop’ charged with groping at Sacred Heart
FAIRFIELD: A Bronx man wearing a police officer costume has been charged with on-campus sexual assault at Sacred Heart University on Halloween.
Frank Anthony Sapienza, 19, was arrested and charged with fourth-degree sexual assault after a woman reported unwanted sexual contact. She accused him of kissing and groping her, after she allegedly told him to stop a number of times.
She contacted Sacred Heart University Public Safety to report that she was sexually assaulted by an unknown man, who was later identified as Sapienza, who was dressed in a police officer Halloween costume.
Sapienza admitted that he did not stop immediately after he was asked to do so by the victim. It is unclear if the victim is a Sacred Heart student.
Based on Sapienza admitting to not stopping and statements from multiple witnesses on scene corroborating her account of the incident, Sapienza was arrested. He was initially held on a 1,000 dollar bond, but was released this morning after posting bond.
His court date is Monday, November 9 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
