HARTFORD--There was just one degree of separation in Hartford on Wednesday as Kevin Bacon paid a visit to a special training program.

Bacon, 57, met with students, graduates and instructors at the Kitchen at Billings Forge.

The 12-week program provides culinary training for Hartford residents who have found it hard to get a job for one reason or another.

Bacon was intrigued with the high success rate of job placement after completion of the program.

The movie star, and his SixDegrees.org, highlights nonprofits which have done a lot of good in communities.

"You know you tweet about it, you share your experience," Bacon said.  "It can actually make sometimes a small impact, and sometimes a bigger one."

Bacon is currently in Hartford to star in "Rear Window" at the Hartford Stage, which runs through November 15.

Bacon had lunch at the Kitchen at the Hartford Public Library, which ironically is known for its maple mayo BLT.  Bacon went with the curry chicken salad instead.
