HARTFORD — Two men are facing felony murder charges after police say they shot and killed a Hartford man back in July. Everett Scott, 47, was shot six times sitting in his car on Kenyon Court in the city’s North End on a Sunday afternoon around 2 p.m. At the time, police called the homicide “narcotics related.”

The Homicide Detectives from the Hart Police Major Crimes Division responded and assumed the investigation. Evidence was submitted to the state crime lab and several witnesses were located and interviewed. Arrest warrants submitted and approved charging Keith Hurst, 21, and Phillip Williams, 27, with Felony Murder, Robbery and Firearm violations. Williams, who was in DOC custody on unrelated charges, was charged in court on Thursday, November 5. He is held on a judge set bond of 2.5 million dollars. Investigators were unable to locate Hurst.

On Monday, November 9 around 7 a.m. Hartford officers along with the U.S. Marshal Service Violent Fugitive Task Force went to an apartment on Folly Brook Boulevard in Wethersfield.

Hurst tried to run away, but officers were able to arrest him.

Hurst is charged with Felony Murder, Robbery 1st, Conspiracy Robbery, Conspiracy Felony Murder, Criminal Possession Firearm, and Criminal Use of Firearm. He is being held on $1 million dollar bond. He is a convicted felon with 12 previous arrests in Hartford.

Williams is charged with Felony Murder, Robbery 1st, Conspiracy Robbery, Conspiracy Felony Murder, Criminal Possession Firearm, and Criminal Use of Firearm. He is being held on $2.5 million dollar bond. He is also a convicted felon with 10 previous Hartford arrests.
