WALLINGFORD — Route 150 has reopened after several hours after the road was shut down to investigate a crash.

Police said Pauline Eckardt, 73, of Wallingford, and her dog were hit by a car that was driving on North Turnpike Road, near the intersection of Western Sands Road.

The dog was killed in the crash, and Eckardt was taken to the hospital with injuries. People who witnessed the crash tell FOX 61 that the woman was conscious and talking when the ambulance arrived.

The driver took off but returned to the scene minutes later and is cooperating with police.

Police are investigating.
