STRATFORD —  A Boston-bound Amtrak train struck and killed a person on the tracks Wednesday morning.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority said the death occurred at the Stratford Metro-North station at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. The agency says the person was not authorized to be on the tracks. No name was released.

Metro-North said the victim was a 38-year-old white male from Milford. The incident is not believed to be criminal in nature.

The train left Washington, D.C. early Wednesday morning and was due in at Boston’s South Station at 11:05 a.m.

MTA police are investigating.

The MTA’s New Haven line commuter rail service was suspended between Bridgeport and New Haven for about 20 minutes.
