MILFORD - At Progressive Insurance’s Keys to Progress event, former Navy dental assistant Loretta Horton and Army veteran Anthony Peruzzi came out as the big winners Wednesday.

“It really didn’t hit me yet. When I drive it out, it will finally hit me”, said Peruzzi.

“I drove a tank,” he said - a far cry from his service with the Army in Kosovo.

“It is great to have served my country and no matter what you’ve done in life, someone recognizes you," said Horton.

Even though they look like brand new cars, they’re not – they were totalled out by the insurance company. There is actually a long process the cars went through to get back to working order, in order to be given to the veterans.

“Progressive Insurance provides two totaled out cars to their business partners, body shops who then refurbish the cars, and donate them,” said Jeff Spillane with Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

The two veterans were hand-picked by local VFW’s, who found these two veterans in need.
