WALLINGFORD — A pair of men from Michigan were arrested Wednesday on forgery charges in connection with fraudulent use of debit cards.

Police were called to the Walmart Supercenter on North Colony Rd. for two men who were were said to be using fraudulent debit cards. When police arrived and tried to talk to the suspects, the pair drove off, but was eventually stopped.

Police arrested both Tarmazz Scott and Ramar Trusty of Michigan. At first, officers found Trusty had three debit cards with stolen credit card numbers on them. Upon further investigation, police said Scott and Trusty had a total of fifteen fraudulent debit cards with stolen card numbers and fictitious names embossed on them.

The men were only in the state for a few hours, according to police, but made purchases at the Hartford, Manchester, and Wallingford Walmart stores. They had ten recently purchased pre-paid debit/gift cards worth $5,000. Police believe the pre-paid debit/gift cards were purchased with the stolen credit card numbers. Police said the suspects were returning to Michigan within twenty-four hours.

Police say Trusty has a lengthy criminal history in Colorado, Michigan, and Ohio. He is a wanted felon from Colorado for forgery charges and was charged in Connecticut with being a fugitive from justice. He was held on a $1 million bond and will be extradited to Colorado.

Both men were charged with forgery and theft/illegal use of the credit cards and interfering with an officer.
