OLD SAYBROOK -- September 27, 2004 night-shift manager of the Old Saybrook Citgo gas station, Mark Randazzo, began his shift. Approximately 3 a.m. the Old Saybrook police received a 911 call from a customer saying there was an injured person in the convenience store service station, and that the place had appeared to be robbed.

Officers responded and found Randazzo, shot and lying on the ground near the open cash register drawer. Local police and members of the state police Major Crimes Unit reviewed  surveillance videotape, able to describe the suspect as a black male who is about 6 feet tall, with a thin build and wearing a dark short-sleeved shirt and a dark baseball cap.

Randazzo was recently divorced, with an eight-year old son. Working multiple jobs, trying to pay bills and support his child was the focus of his life. He had no criminal record or was involved with drugs or alcohol.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Old Saybrook Police.
