WEST HAVEN - The name will get your attention: "Random Acts of Apples"
The goodwill was on a roll at the VA Hospital in West Haven.
Bishop's Orchards, the popular farm market and winery in Guilford, brought some good cheer to the VA Hospital in the form of their famed apples, donuts, and cider.
"This year we thought we'd head over to visit veterans and show them our appreciation as well as our appreciation for the staff," said Erica Scranton, the marketing coordinator at Bishop's Orchards.
Bishop's has made it their mission the week of Veterans Day to deliver their goods to deserving groups for the past three years.
"I don't even think I could tell you how many apples we have here," Scranton said.
At the Bishop's display that was set up in the main lobby of the VA Hospital, donuts went like hotcakes and cider flowed freely.
"Veteran's Day is one day a year but this is a place that every day is serving Veterans and honoring them for the whole year-long," said Dr. Chris Ruser, the chief of primary care.
"I feel great about anyone in the community who supports Veterans, we need all the support we can get," said Bridgitte Prince, a retired Army Specialist, visiting the VA from East Hartford.
Scranton said the Bishops Orchard's Random Acts of Apples will become a tradition each year.
"It's amazing what these people do and what these people have done for our country," she said.
